Who I am
I am an elected Councillor for South Molton Town Council. Details of  my appointments within the council and my register of interests can be seen on the council website at www.southmoltontowncouncil.co.uk/councillors/.

To fulfil my role as a councillor in helping people who contact me, the law requires all elected members to be registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) as a Data Controller of personal data. I am registered with the ICO and my registration number is ZA469858.

This gives protection to you and ensures that I will handle any personal information you give to me confidentially and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

How will I use the information about you?
As an elected member, I will only be able to investigate concerns which you raise if I can use your personal information, for example so I can contact you with the result of my inquiries. If your query relates to your own involvement with the council then I will need details of this involvement in order to be able to assist you.

I also receive information about individuals from third parties such as where constituents raise queries or complaints about other people, and I receive information from the council relating to individuals where the matter in question is being reported to a council committee.

What information do I collect about you?
I will only collect the personal information I need to provide you with relevant information, services and support.

While using my site, I may ask you to provide me with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personal identifiable information will only include your email address (to leave a comment or sign up for my newsletter) and your name (this is optional).

Log Data and Cookies
Like many site operators, I collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit my Site (“Log Data”).

This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of my Site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics. In addition, I use Google Analytics that collect, monitor and analyse this.

I use “cookies” to collect information. Cookies are files with small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier.  Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer’s hard drive. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of my site.

The website uses third parties; such as Google Analytics – I use this to track the traffic of my site and my readers. Google Analytics may capture your IP address, but no other personal information is captured by Google Analytics.

If you wish to see any information that I hold about you, if you want me to update or correct any personal information that I hold about you, or if you have any queries regarding personal data that I hold about you, please contact me.
